Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea is a whisky that pays homage to the world of tea. A collaboration with JING, producer of exceptional teas. Equally complex, both widely celebrated, each depends on people and nature working together in harmony. The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team has developed this whisky which is inspired by the Phoenix Honey Orchid, an expertly crafted Oolong Tea, selected by JING. It reflects the highly aromatic and elegant tea grown in the Phoenix Mountain range in China and delivers a rewardingly complex journey on the senses. The use of American oak casks recreates the peach and floral notes of the tea, intertwined with a honeyed sweetness, that is rich and heady. This is beautifully balanced by the inclusion of European oak which lends a pleasing note reminiscent of the roasted richness and touch of tannic astringency which is present in this exquisite tea. Waste tea leaves deemed unsuitable for consumption have been repurposed in the paper of the presentation box that you now hold in your hand.
